NEWTOWN — Alberta L. Dickerson, 87, formerly of Newtown, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007 at her daughter's home in Raymore, Mo. She was born Sept. 3, 1919 on the family farm in Fountain County, the daughter of James E. and Gladys Thomas. She married Kenneth E. Dickerson of Lebanon, May 2, 1942, he preceded in death. Following the end of World War II, Alberta and Kenneth made their home in Newtown. She taught first and second grades at Salt Lake City, Utah, Wallace, Richland Township, and Coal Creek Central, Indiana elementary schools. Her great love was nurturing and teaching children. She was a member of the Newtown Community Church and an associate member of the Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City, Mo. For the past eight years she lived near family in the Foxwood Springs Living Center of Raymore, Mo. She was a 62-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Quigle-Palin Post and a long time member of Fern Chapter #194 Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include: a daughter, Marcia A. (Rev. Dale E.) Ramsey, Raymore, Mo.; a sister, Patsy Ellis, Waynetown; two granddaughters, Tepring (Glenn) Crocker, Overland Park, Kan. and Lt. Sharon (Ted) Toulouse, Hampton, Va.; and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Elizabeth Crocker, Overland Park, Kan. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Wandaline E. Thomas, Hillsboro. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in Maus Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Funeral services will be there at 11 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Country Club Christian Church designated to the South African Orphanage Fund, 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Mo. 64113. – jlr
